THE HARAMBEE FESTIVAL
This festival is one of the largest College-sponsored festivals in the nation. It is an annual event for the entire family that has plenty of food, music, fun, art, and those hard-to-find merchandise items in the Shopping Village. The KIJIJI Children's Village will feature scientific experiments, virtual classrooms, educational enrichment, and dance lessons. Other events include outside activities for the children, and bounce houses. Additionally, there will be free play checkers.
Live stage performances are scheduled throughout the day to include the national award winning Benedict College Gospel Choir and a special appearance by the Harambee Festival Community Gospel Choir and various other performances to include gospel, jazz, R and B, dance, praise dancing, steel band, an international performance and much, much MORE! Free Admission. **Mays Human Resources Center Arena 9:30 A.M. - 5:30 P.M.**

WHERE: South Street between 21st and 23rd Streets extending to GraysFerry Avenue and Christian Streets. Philadelphia, PA
ODUNDE attracts over 600,000 people annually and is one of the largest community- based street festivals held in the country. The festival, whose concept originates from the Yorba people of Nigeria, West Africa, celebrates the coming of another year for African Americans and Africanized people around the world. It is an occasion highlighted by a colorful procession from 23rd and South Streets to the Schuylkill River where an offering of fruit and flowers is made to Oshun, the Yoruba goddess of the river. ODUNDE is also known for its authentic African marketplace featuring vendors from around the world selling merchandise from many African nations, the Caribbean and Brazil.
Each year, the second Sunday in June, ODUNDE, one of the nations oldest African American street festivals take place. ODUNDE will be celebrating its 35rd year in the traditional south Philadelphia location near 23rd and South streets. The festival started in 1975 with a $100.00 grant and neighbors from Fernandez's south Philadelphia community. In two years the ODUNDE Festival exploded. The eclectic mix of vendors, entertainment and music started to draw people from around and beyond the region and each year continues to be no different.

The West Oak Lane Jazz and Arts Festival, Philadelphia’s preeminent music and culture event is back and better than ever. The 2011 edition of the festival will again showcase internationally acclaimed, award-winning artists, alongside some of the best regional and upcoming talent.
This year, we celebrate the diversity that is our world, our country, our city and our communities. We invite you to Ogontz Avenue to experience, on two stages, three days of live Jazz, Salsa, R&B, Classical, Soul, Reggae and more. Explore the Marketplace filled with hand-crafted, original Art creations. Exhibitors from around the country have been selected to deliver a multi-cultural mix of jewelry, clothing, photography, paintings and so much more. No festival is complete without food! Come enjoy the array of cuisine from around the globe and around the corner. A new feature of the festival is our Children’s Day event; complete with live performances, music workshops and a video gaming arcade.
As part of the festival’s greening and sustainability initiatives, we urge the use mass transit. Free shuttle service to the festival site is available at our Park and Ride locations in select locations around Philadelphia. Complimentary parking is available at many locations.
